I am a Hungarian born emerging artist living in Canberra. I majored in sculpture at the Australian National University in Canberra. My art practice is largely influenced by my professional background as a psychologist, by having grown up in the messy history and politics of Central-Europe, and being a migrant.
I am interested in how things evolve, how people and objects influence each other. Decay, transformation, grief, renewal and memory are subjects of my art. During my studies at art school, at the time I was preparing to make work about intergenerational trauma there was a pivotal event when I experienced a deep sense of dispossession. This ignited strong feelings and reminded me of many stories I had heard, I knew of and read about, that gave a lot of impetus for my work. The mixed-media materials allow me intimate affective and tactile connection to my subjects and objects. I write fictional stories for this body of work.
Getting involved in interactive community art is important to me, as self expression and connectedness to community play a significant role in people’s well being.
I was commissioned to create an interactive art work at a Peace Concert I facilitated a weaving project with recycled materials and a Stitch Project during Covid-19 isolation. Currently I am contributing to a quilt collective art piece on endangered species.
I was invited to exhibit in multiple exhibitions responding to images of women with endometriosis. Participants described and drew their pain and I, alongside other artists responded to these in art form. This was particularly significant for me, as I have worked with such women as a psychologist.
I am currently delving into encaustic painting and sculpture.
Studied visual arts at the Australian National University in Canberra, where I majored in sculpture.
